My focus will be as it has always been, to represent ALL the people of this district with integrity, a solid work ethic, strong moral values, and proven leadership.

The relationships that I have built and the experience I have gained throughout my years in office will allow me to continue to be a strong voice for the people. Both provide me the ability to make the tough decisions that govern our state and represent the citizens, young and old, of Rankin and Smith County.

Why Am I Running?

Infrastructure

Infrastructure has been a top priority throughout my years of service. Few other issues have more of an impact on the quality of our daily lives than the roads and bridges we transport our families on. If we are going to be successful in keeping the businesses we have and attracting additional businesses to Mississippi, we must continue investing in quality roads and bridges.

Economy / Jobs

Jobs are vital to our communities. It’s a trickle-down effect, strengthening the infrastructure encourages investment opportunities, which in turn brings about the needed jobs in both our small and large communities. We must continue to seek and encourage investment in our communities.

Public Safety

Supporting our law enforcement and judicial system has been one of my top priorities. I will support the policies that ensure criminals are punished as well as those that protect victims’ rights.

Education

Our educational system is the backbone of our society and is crucial to the growth and health of our communities and our state. I will always support the needs of our schools and colleges, students and most especially our teachers.

Healthcare

I will always fight for commonsense healthcare policies that will help control costs, expand access, and improve the quality of care.

Agriculture / Forestry

With an extensive background in agriculture and forestry, I understand the importance of being a strong advocate for the future of our farms and logging industry. I pledge to be that strong voice.

Conservative Values

I am dedicated to putting conservative values first. For example, I will publicly defend the sanctity of human life and will support our Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Experience

I will utilize my 16 years experience in managing the taxpayers’ budget and securing essential funding for the citizens of District 36.

About Jared

I was raised on and continue to maintain our family farm with my wife Sheila.

Together we have 5 children and I’m proud to be called “Big J” by our beautiful grandchildren. I graduated from Florence High School and went on to attend Hinds Community College where I majored in Business Management.

I have been blessed to have built our family business Morrison Welding & Crane Service, which has served the State of Mississippi for over 30 years. I’m a lifelong member of Marvin United Methodist Church and have served as Rankin County District 1 Supervisor for 16 years.

A Message from Jared Morrison

For 16 years the citizens of District 1 have trusted me to be their voice, to represent our district, and move our community forward. Being able to serve you has been the honor of a lifetime and I’m so grateful. I’ve gained immeasurable experience as well as had the privilege of working with the Board of Supervisors and others at the state level. Through those collaborations, we have addressed many infrastructure needs, expanded our economic development, and can say we have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.

This experience has prepared me to represent you and your families as your next State Senator, and to provide the leadership needed to open up more opportunities for our district, and to create a better outcome for our citizens. I am confident I can make the decisions needed to represent ALL of Rankin and Smith County residents and am excited about our future. Together we can make a difference.
